Harold and Sheila Maier, who live next door, asked the planning commission to deny it over concerns of livability.

Harold Maier said Monday that he and his wife have reached an agreement with and Lewis, whereby the company will sell the Maiers a 20-footwide strip of land along the property line. "I felt from the very beginning that he'd have his seed barn back there," Maier said. "We were just trying to minimize the impact." He went on to call Monte Lewis, one of the company owners, a "gracious neighbor." The commission held a hearing last month on the issue. At the hearing, Commission Chairman Bob Bronson interrupted Maier a number of times, and the two got into a short exchange about Maier's Vietnam-related disability. Bronson has since apologized for the way he handled the hearing, saying he had a "bad night." Democrat-Herald great-grandchildren.
