His life gradually became difficult due to mental problems. During his last illness Don became interested in spiritual issues, for which we are thankful. Special thanks to Albany Regency Nursing Home, Jamata Happy Home, Senior and Disability Services, and the hospitals and caregivers in Albany and Corvallis. A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Feb.

18, 2009 Marian A. Lewis, 80, of Madras died Jan. 18 of a heart attack. She was born in Dryad, to Fortunato and Anna Piccin. Marian grew up playing and working on her grandfather's chicken ranch in Dryad.

In 1947, she married George Lewis and lived in Washington for 10 years before moving to Potter Valley, Calif. In 1959 they moved to Sweet Home with their three children and lived there for 23 years. Marian worked as a secretary for the Sweet Home School District for many years. On her retirement in 1983, she and George became snowbirds to Yuma, where they wintered for the next 15 years. In 1998 Marian and George moved to Madras to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Steve Jansen.

Marian was very active in the Madras Senior Center and the Madras -Culver Nazarene Church, considering them her second families. She is survived by her husband, George of Madras; son Tony Lewis and wife Ruby of Albany; daughters Patti Evans and husband Jim of Brownsville, and 1 Sue Nies and husband Jay of Martin, S.D.; three grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Jan Jansen; granddaughter Diane Winter; and greatgranddaughter Samantha Winner. A memorial service was earlier in the month at the Jefferson County Senior Center in Madras. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Home Health and Hospice in Madras.

Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home in Madras handled arrangements. Service notice James "Jimmy" Lovell, 48, died Friday. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Scio Christian Church, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. at the Lacomb Cemetery.
