King and Court Cancels Game The appearance of the King and his Court, world famous four man softball team, has been cancelled here. The group was to have been here Friday at 8 p.m. Eddie Feigner, star pitcher for the team, called the Albany Chamber of Commerce this morning from Pennsylvania say it would be impossible to make the appearance here.

NOTICE China Grill WILL BE OPEN SATURDAY, JULY 4TH Group Hopes To Halt Dam A "Committee to Save Cascadia from the Proposed Dam" has been formed, according to Mrs. Eva Johnson, 303 Willamette Eugene, the committee secretary. Mrs. Johnson is seeking interested persons in Linn county to carry petitions to save Cascadia State Park from the proposed dam. The committee has prepared a pamphlet with information about the park and the dam.

It includes a map of East Linn County. The pamphlet gives the followindg information and Park is a historical spot in use for 100 years; as a way station in building Santiam Highway in 1864, the first road across the mountains connecting Eastern Oregon and the Willamette Valley. "It was used as an overnight camping area for pioneers on their trips over the mountains; also for summer vacations. Before cars, at one time there were between 100 and 200 tents pitched there. It has been in constant use all these years.

"Cascadia is one of the outstanding state parks in Oregon. We are told we need more parks, yet the Oregon State Parks has beautiful given permis-' unique park to be flooded by Cascadia Dam." The pamphlet mentions the mineral spring as an outstanding attrection. "People come for miles for this water, carrying it home. Other springs have been destroyed in attempts to improve them." 'The combination of the river (the South Santiam), the tain stream and the large overhanging hemlock trees makes a wonderful place for families and older people. Lodges, churches and other groups hold annual picnics there." The pamphlet says further that the "U.S.

Engineers have selected a site two and one-half miles downstream" for Cascadia Dam, and "Congress has approved the spot but money has not yet been appropriated." Miebach Infant Dies at Birth The infant son, of Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Miebach, 918 W. 20th died at Albany General Hospital shortly after his birth Tuesday. Man Injured in Tuesday Crash One person involved in an accident Tuesday evening was injured, it was reported today. Raymond Dean Bethards, 42, 4735 Knox Butte Albany, said that he went to a doctor Wednesday for treatment of injuries to his neck and left arm.

In the other vehicle was Gilbert James Heinis, 43, 1248 Washington, Albany. The accident occurred about 5:40 p.m. Tuesday on the old Salem highway north of Tower Grove. State police said that both hicles were traveling south on the highway when Bethards' pickup truck was hit from the rear by the Heinis vehicle. Heinis was cited on a charge of speeding, not Bethards as previously reported.

Harris Files 2nd Insurance Suit SALEM (UPI)-A second suit was filed in Marion County Circuit Court Wednesday by Wilford Keith Harris, Salem, to collect on life insurance carried on his wife. Harris is free on bail pending appeal of his manslaughter conviction in her death in Eastern Oregon last December. Blaze in Bed Causes Damage Two fire engines and a pickup truck answered a call to 905 Columbus street at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, when a fire started in a bed in the home. The house belongs to the Ira Adamson family, who reported the blaze.

About 250 children and parents were present for the Junior Timber Carnival held from 6 to 8 p.m. Elected as grand marshal of the junior parade was Mike Belknap, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Belknap, 1 1035 E. 22nd Ave.

He was representing Sunrise Park and Miss Palmer was the Eleanor Park candidate. Other queen candidates were Sue Sorte, Takena park; Heidi Adams, Henderson park; and Terry Klemp, Sunrise park. The other three grand marshal contestants were Jimmy Covalt, Eleanor park; Jeff Smith, Henderson park, and Mark Ramsdell, Takena park. Miss Palmer made her appearance last night, still wearing a cast on her arm following a fall from the cross-bars at school May 1. She will be in the third grade at Waverly school next year.

The meeting has been cancelled this week because of the Timber Carnival parades scheduled during the morning. Next week, according to Chamber Manager Jim Barrett, a special program will be offered including a discussion of Ryals Lane improvement possibilities and a program being arranged by Representative Gerald Detering.

Albany Students On Honor Roll Five hundred University of Oregon students made grades of 3.50 or higher for spring term. students are listed on the university's honor roll. Their attending physician said that neither woman had any fractures, both were skinned and both are being kept for observation.

The injured women are Peggy Ruth Campbell, 23, 3090 Walker and her mother, Audie Gertrude Finley, 58. The accident occurred about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday on Highway 20 at the Waterloo junction. Drivers of the cars were abeth Dorothea Littleton, 44, Rt. 1, Box 315, and Mrs.

Campbell. State police said that both cars were headed east on Highway (20 with Mrs. Littleton almost stopped to allow a truck to make a left turn. They said that the Campbell vehicle, which was behind the other, slid into the rear of the car. Mrs.

Campbell was cited on a charge of speeding. Passengers in the Littleton car were Jake J. Littleton, Freda Rogers, 76. Passengers in the Campbell car, in addition to Mrs. Finley, were Claudine Audrie Guinelli, 5, and Edwin Wayne Guinelli, 4.

None of these was reported injured. Illness Fatal to Former Resident Ferdinand Leroy Jahn, 51, Tigard, died at his home this morning from a sudden illness He was a former resident of Albany. Mr. Jahn was a superintendent for Pacific Power and Light Company in Tigard and, had worked for that firm while in Albany. Services are pending at the Fisher Funeral Home.

Superintendent Starts New Job SWEET HOME One of the first items on the agenda for the new elementary school superintendent, Gerald L. Newton, is attending a legislative Interim Committee on Education meeting in Salem today. Newton was elementary superintendent in Madras for nine years, and has been an educator in Oregon for 21 years. His first day on the job here was July 1. MAY CALL WALKOUT.
