A4 ALBANY DEMOCRAT-HERALD, MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2009 ooiTunniES Christina Evans Dec. 2, 1915 -Ho 6, 2009 Christina Evans, 93, of Huron, passed away Nov. 6 at the Village Villa Nursing Home in Nor-tonville, Kan. Christina was born in Bendena, the daughter of Frank and Rosa Anna (Priddy) Robbins. She attended rural schools at Bendena.

Christina and Andrew L. American Hunting Club. He was always known for his generosity, service to humanity and deep friendly nature. Although he didn't complete studies as a physician, he retained a serious interest in the healing arts over the years. He studied aikido at the Corvallis Dojo, as well as kiatsu healing.

He studied Touch for Health, blood type diets, and was always found observing and assisting the shipboard physicians. He had a special relationship with the animal kingdom and brought his calming presence to every situation. He is survived by one son, Jivanta Andrew Beck Pare; god-daughter Jaiaen Beck; and two dear sisters, Pat Earlywine and Carol Stockdale. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard; and his wife, Jewell Beck Pare. A celebration of John's life will be on Wednesday.

There will be a viewing from 10 a.m. to noon at Huston -Jost Funeral Home. At 1 p.m. there will be a short graveside service at the Lacomb Cemetery. Following this there will be a remembering and honoring of his life at the Lacomb Grange.

Afterwards the family invites friends to a reception at the home that John built in Lacomb. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to his favorite charity, Ancient Ways, in care of Huston -Jost Funeral Home, 86 W. Grant Lebanon, OR 97355. Josiah Thomas Wilder Nov. 7, 2009 -Nov.

8, 2009 Josiah Thomas Wilder was born Nov. 7 at 9:50 a.m. to Jonathan and Amanda Wilder. He died Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m.

He was not expected to survive birth due to developmental factors in his lymphatic system. Doctors were able to put in a breathing tube, which allowed Josiah to experience the love and warmth of his parents before going to be with his God. Josiah is survived by his mother, Amanda; father Jonathan; and grandparents, uncles, aunts and hosts of people who will look forward to meeting him for the first time in heaven. A funeral service was on Sunday at the Cornerstone Church of God in Clifford Ellis Cannon Dm. 28, 1325 -Not 10, 2009 Clifford Ellis Cannon, 83, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday in Wood-burn.

Cliff was born in Stone -ham, Colo. On Sept. 4, 1952, he married Delores Yilene. They made their home in Sweet Home. Cliff managed Truax Oil's business in Sweet Home for more than 40 years.

Surviving Cliff are his wife, Delores; daughter Connie Westrick and husband Randy of Woodburn; granddaughter Rachel Westrick; son Kevin Cannon and wife Becky of Sweet Home; grandson Cody Cannon; and brothers Dwight Cannon of Lebanon and Lynn Cannon of Coquille. Cliff's parents, Virgil and Jenny Cannon, and brothers Arvis Cannon and Jerry Cannon preceded him in death. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Sweet Home Senior Center.

Condolences can be posted at www.anew tradition.com. Lois Mavis Matteson July 7, 1930 -Nov. 12, 2009 Lois Mavis Matteson, 79, of Albany died Thursday at her home. Lois was born in Monti-cello, to Richard and Rena (Trantham) Tullos. She married Tom Matteson on Nov.

8, 1947, in Oakland, Calif. She partnered with her husband in his roofing business in California. In 1973 she came to Albany from Prineville. Again she partnered with her husband in his auction business, Mateo Auction Company in Albany. She was always at her husband's side.

Lois was an excellent cook and had a taste for decorating. She made time to talk with everyone and people would seek her out just for conversation. Lois is survived by her husband, Tom; children Donna Carbonell of Baltimore, Mavis Matteson of Albany, and Thomas Matteson of Beaverton; five grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and two half-brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents; two half-brothers; and four half-sisters. A funeral will be at 2 p.m.

13,2009 Louie Henry Brown, 78, of Albany died Friday at Regency Albany. Louie was born in Eu-fala, to Charlie M. and Emmer (Hice) Brown. Louie came to the mid-valley in 1940 and lived in Harrisburg, then Aumsville and Jefferson. Louie joined the Air Force in 1951 and served in Alaska, Michigan and Mississippi.

On Aug. 26, 1955, he married Betty S. Ross in Jefferson. He worked framing houses for several area contractors. He loved all sports and played football as a boy.

Louie is survived by his wife, Betty Brown of Albany; children Mary Larsell and husband Dennis of Albany, Sandy Cason and husband Robert of Redmond, James Brown and wife Lynn of Lebanon, and Donna Neito and husband Benny of Gresham; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Catherine Marino. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and four sisters. The family will plan a celebration of life at a later date. Clarence 'John Pare Jr. Jl.M,19a-Nw.l2,2009 Clarence "John" Pare 88 years young, of Lacomb died Thursday after a brief illness.

He was born in Springfield, 111., to Clarence John Pare Sr. and Alice (Grund-meier) Pare. John completed one term of college where he was studying to be a doctor, but then entered into the Coast Guard because World War II began. He worked his way up through the ranks as a "maverick" (officer promoted from experience rather than schooled) and retired after 23 years in 1965 as a lieutenant commander. During his service he was responsible for many Coast Guard vessels and also was the commanding officer of the Loran station on Eniwe-tok, an atoll in the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific in 1952, where the first hydrogen bomb was tested.

LCDR Pare was one of the first people on the ground after the explosion. The Modac vessel was commissioned under him. He was well known for his search and rescue efforts because they never once came back without those lost at sea. His love of his ocean was great and remained a place of wonderful calm for him. John worked for Sears in Albany following his retirement, working in many departments, becoming the building engineer upon completion of the new store on Lyons.

He retired from Sears in 1982. In 1994 he co-founded Ancient Ways, a nonprofit organization working in Peru and Zimbabwe. He was instrumental in their compassionate outreach to rural villagers there. He was able to visit Zimbabwe in 2007 and enjoyed an incredible adventure, where they named him Papa John and recognized him as a well -respected elder in their community. He was the president of Ancient Ways from 1996, when it became a charitable organization, until 2009.

He was also the president of the Lebanon Square Circlers, the second-oldest square dance club in Oregon, in 1999, where he loved dancing and thoroughly enjoyed himself and friends on Saturday nights. He was a member of the American Legion and also the North Evans were married Oct. 15, 1930, in Troy, Kan. logether I 1 they farmed for several years before moving to Christina Scio in 1952. Evans While in Scio, Christina worked for the Stayton Cannery until her retirement in 1980.

They moved to Huron, in 1981. She was a member of the Lutheran faith, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking and especially being with her family. She is survived by her son Andrew J. Evans of Scio; five daughters, Anne Lee Kirkham of Cummings, Dorothy Sferlazza of Dallas, Rose Mary Nollen of Turner, Vivian Hamilton of Huron, and Donna Broyles of Albany; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great -great-grandchildren. Christina was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; three sons, Kenneth "Bud," Dennis and Oscar Evans; her parents; two brothers; one sister; and three grandsons, Butch Bilderback, Tony Bilder-back and Mike Evans.
