Lora Redmond and Mrs. Loretta Kal- By RONALD BURTON United Press International LOS ANGELES (UPI) For nearly 10 years, Roy Huerta, 38, has been able to see his wife only on week ends. Almost every, Saturday, Huerta, a restaurant cook, has taken a 130-mile bus trip to visit his Mexican-born wife, Manuela, 32, in Tijuana, Mexico. She has been barred from the United States since 1949 as the result of a perjury conviction that started as a language mixup. But now, Huerta, aided by a United Press International investigation, may be able in a matter of weeks to bring his wife and six small children to Los Angeles to live with him.

"This is wonderful," he said. "I'll take the kids out every day. I'll skip through the pars with them." Ironically, a law passed Sept. 11, 1957, probably would have permitted Mrs. Huerta to enter this country at that time despite the perjury conviction.

But Huerta, a World War Army veteran of the South Pacific campaign, didn't know about it until a UPI reporter investigated the case. Need Documents- "We feel this is a deserving case, and it shouldn't be too long before the family can all live together here if other things are in order," said F. C. Oswald, deputy destrict director of immigration in Los Angeles. "That means they need docu ments showing they are married and that Huerta was born in this country.

The Sept. 11, 1957, legislation permits the spouse of a U.S. citizen to enter the country even if he or she would be other wise inadmissible because of a conviction." Oswald said the last entry in the case was in 1953 when Huerta again tried to have her admitted. Oswald, who said he felt the case was an isolated one, spent several days running down Infor "This is wonderful!" Huerta told Oswald. "I'll tell Manuela about it when I go see her this week end.

She doesn't have a phone there. It will be a wonderful surprise. She'll fill out the forms and get going on it right away. It's wonderful." The children range from infancy to nine years. Huerta.

born in Johnstown, was unable to arrange for a job in San Diego, a short distance from Tijuana. Mrs. Huerta's difficulty occurred when the couple, married in 1947 in Los Angeles, visited Tijuana and then returned. Mrs. Huerta, who speaks only little English, became confused and said she was a U.S.

citizen. She later was accused of entering the United States illegally, convicted of perjury and deported. Canyon to Issue Centennial Coins MILL CITY The North Santiam Chamber of Commerce made plans at their last meeting to have 50-cent Centennial coins made to help publicize the Centennial theme in this area. These coins will be sold to the merchants for 50 cents face value to be given out in trade as souvenir pieces. At the end of the Centennial coins will be returned to the chamber at original cost.

Purchase pries to tourists and others wanting them will be 10 cents. Zen Cutting of Mehama, Jack Lingaas and Lindsey Wright of Stayton are in charge of the project. The chamber also voted to give $100 to help defray expenses for the Centennial Canyon Talent contest, which was held at Stayton Saturday evening.
