At 2 p.m. on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 4.70 at 5,569.44, mostly on gains in the blue-chip index's three oil stocks. The Dow has meandered aimlessly for the past few sessions, while smaller company stocks have led other indexes to new records. Broader-market measures were higher today, but technology stocks, which have resumed a leadership role after a broad sell-off that began late last year, were the only decisive gainers. The Nasdaq composite, heavily weighted with technology issues, was plowing further into record territory.
