She is studying in Portland at the Linfield College School of Nursing and is working at Good Samaritan Medical Library. Matthew is the son of Mark and Denese Schaffner of Albany.

A 1995 South Albany High School graduate, he attends Linn-Benton Community College and plans to transfer in 1998 to the University of Oregon. He i works for Cellular One of Albany. 8, 1947, in Oakland, Calif. She is originally from Monticello, and he is from Bolivar, Mo, The Mattesons lived in Springfield, for three years and in Fremont, for 20 years. After living in Prineville briefly, they moved to Albany in 1973. Tom was a maintenance mechanic before they started their roofing business in Fremont. Besides the roofing company, the Mattesons have been involved in several other small businesses, including a mobile home park, a gas station, a grocery store and, since 1981, the auction business.

They have always worked as partners. The couple is semi-retired now, and, after years of being too busy, Tom says he would like to try fishing again, "If I still know how." Lois and Tom are parents of Donna Matteson Sherman and Mitchell Bill and Joyce Mitchell of Albany celebrated 50 years of marriage in August at a reunion of the Mitchell-Fortier family at the Salem home of daughter Cami.
