Boston, or anv Dcint Kast nlmnwi whom he was livinggood night. It is supposed that he got up about 4 o'clock on the morning following and went out to where he was found. It appears that he went out, going into an orchard several hundred yards from the house, took off his coat and vest and hung them on a tree theu laid down upon the ground, carefully spreading a blanket over himself and placing a small Smith Weston pistol to his right temple, pulled the trigger. Two letters were found in the morning upon a table in his room telling why he did the deed, lie stated that iic feared death from consumption and he did nqt wish to die by inches, and preferred to die instantly. He also gave directions where to be buried and other requests of minor import.

The act was evidently one long premeditated and determined upon. His funeral takes place to-day from his late residence. State Teachers' Institute. Office of Scp't Pud. Salem, Aug.
